Description
During one of our first stops in Southern Utah, my friend and I hiked up 1200 vertical feet from the Zion Park valley floor, to a sandy island in the sky. After the brutal switchbacks, we found a nice campsite on a 50 ft wide ridge with a 1200 ft drop on one side and a 600 ft drop on the other. Unfortunately, our slumber was disturbed by a violent lightning storm and torrential downpour. What a crazy night in the sky!

Great shot. I quit climbing after we nearly died on the Alpspitze forty years ago

I'm not really into proper climbing, just trails that occasionally have some pretty steep switchbacks. I imagine being up there on a rock face would be pretty intense without a trail under my feet!!
