It must have been an amazing and thrilling experience, Jon, to climb up the glacier then descend into fern tree forests. Brings back memories of the climb I did on the glacier a dozen year ago. Just spent approximately two hours on the icy slopes. Thank goodness for crampons! Loved my one month trip to the northern and southern islands of NZ that included a number of tramping/bush-walking experiences.
